LifestyleNutrition 4 Tips To Avoid Weight Gain During The Holidays!

weight gain during holidays

Check out these 4 tips that can keep you from overeating and weight gain during the holidays!

Tis’ the time of the year to spend with loved ones laughing, FEASTING, and watching football. Did you see how I highlighted FEASTING?

Believe it or not, the average person will gain more weight in the next 2-months than in the last 10 months. Well, folks, I don’t know about you, but when I’m celebrating with family and friends especially during the holidays enjoying all of the traditional foods, it becomes very easy to overeat.

If this sounds like you, check out these 4 tips that can keep you from overeating and packing on the holiday pounds.

Tip #1 MindFul Eating

Pay attention to what you’re putting on your plate. Aim to eat more protein and take the time to chew every bite and swallow before you take the next bite.

Tip #2 Have A Conversation

Have an engaging conversation with your family while you’re eating. This will allow you to take breaks between bites, drink some water, and laugh!

Tip #3 Eat Prior To THe Big Feast

I know this may be a little extreme, but if you’re serious about not packing on the pounds during the holidays, this is one of many methods that can help. Now, I’m not saying to eat your holiday meal prior to the family event, I’m saying eat something, i.e., bowl of salad and drink water, prior to the family event. During the family event, fill your plate with more proteins than carbs and fats. Don’t eliminate the carbs and fats, just eat more protein and limit the amount of carbs and fats on your plate.

Tip #4 Exercise

This may be an obvious one, but when the holiday festivities roll around, it’s very easy to forget to exercise. This will probably be last on your list of things to do, but I would advise you to make this last and final tip a priority. If the family event falls on your “rest day”, go for a mile run or get your 10k+ steps in for the day. You will be happy that you got your workout in prior to the event.

Hope these tips will help you during your holiday season celebrations and remember… Your Goals Are Non-Negotiable.
