The summer is rapidly approaching and most people will hit the gym in June looking to obtain that ideal look for the beach, a wedding, or travel.

One of the best things to do with any goal is to plan way ahead. If there is an event coming up that you would like to look your best, my recommendation is to plan at least 3-6 months ahead of the event. This will allow you to follow a set training and nutrition program. In this article I will give a guide to officially get ready for the summer.

Mindset

In order to fully commit yourself to the body transformation you desire for summer, it must start with an attitude and determination to get there. Surround yourself with positive people who have similar goals. They will keep you encouraged and you will be able to hold each other accountable.

Stay consistent no matter what. Most people get frustrated when they don’t see results right away. Listen to motivational podcasts, watch motivational videos. My favourite is listening to motivational music.

Nutrition

One of the critical components to your success will be your nutrition. Once you get your mind right and learn how to shop in the grocery store strategically, then you will be well on the way to transformation success.

It is important to choose foods that will provide you with an adequate ratio of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Hydration is another important component to your nutrition. You can speak with a nutritionist or your trainer for guidance on what you should focus on.

Training Program

Your training program will determine how your body will look. If you have a trainer, be very clear and specific about what you are looking for.

Depending on your training history, it may be best to workout with a partner.

The following variables should be included in your training program:

  • Adequate amount of stability and balance exercises
  • A wide variety of cardiovascular exercises to challenge the energy system
  • Resistance exercises that help to build strength
  • A recovery week to allow the body to relax and get ready for the next phase of training

All of these factors are vital to obtaining your summer body transformation. Don’t be afraid to get as much support as this will ensure your success. Have fun while you’re at it and reward yourself once you have hit your goal.
