If you have not noticed yet, personal training has taken a surprising turn to online. It makes sense; just about everything is online nowadays. When I first started as a trainer, I would have never thought of training online. But when I thought through the idea a little, I soon quit my job at the gym to pursue starting a business, with an idea that I had only recently heard of. But why?

I honestly believe that online training is more personal than in-person training.

I believed that I could best help people with online training. I honestly believe that online training is more personal than in-person training. Let me explain.

At a gym they have to put a price on things, so they sell 30 minute and 60 minute sessions. That makes sense because it would be hard to sell training by the minute. But let’s say that every day you leave work and have 30 minutes to get home to eat dinner with your family. You don’t have time to drive to a gym, train for 30 minutes, than drive home. With online training, you don’t have to go to the gym if you don’t have time. You still have access to a trainer for motivation, and you can get workouts to do when you get home.

Train Anytime, Anywhere

At a gym, most people usually don’t train more than once a week, because of the outrageous prices. Most people can only afford one session a week, and don’t know what to do the rest of the week. And it is hard to meet your goals with one workout a week. At best, your trainer can give you a few guidelines to follow, but you are usually always connected online. You can work out as many times as you need, not just when you can afford a session. And since your trainer can give you workouts that fit your life, you get workouts customized for your goals and your schedule. And if something comes up last-minute, you won’t get charged for missing a session.

Online Nutrition Plans

And most importantly, the biggest part of any fitness program is nutrition. You can’t out-train a bad diet. Food won’t just affect how quickly you reach your goals, but it will also affect how you train. In the gym, a trainer usually has very little time to talk about nutrition. It is also not very effective to try to teach someone about healthy eating when they are exhausted from a hard workout. Most of the times it is recommended to pay for an extra session where you can learn about nutrition. But online, you have access to your trainer everyday. You can get nutrition help anytime.

Of course it isn’t perfect! You don’t get to see me! You don’t have to try as hard in a workout. Your trainer isn’t there to push you. It takes discipline. It takes commitment. It’s up to you to decide whether it’s worth it or not. You choose how badly you want to reach your goals. Your trainer can only help push you so hard. But a trainer’s biggest motivation is helping you realize your goals and getting you to chase them, and that can be done online!
