Lifestyle Push to Forty – Why is forty the new Twenty Something?

push-to-forty

“Dad Bod” is a term that is trending all over the world, and seems to be causing quite a stir with men over the age of 40” Does reaching the age of 40 bring on a Mid Life Crisis? What is a Mid Life Crisis? According to most experts in the field, a Mid Life Crisis occurs pretty much when an individual reaches the age between 35-55 years of age, where men start to question the decisions they’ve made, current situations with Career, Love Life/Marriage, Family/Kids. Most men tend to manage these crossroads. However, quite a number of men take quite a bit of strain dealing with this subsequent change, comparing themselves to other men their age. A decrease in testosterone could also contribute to the problem. “As men age, their testosterone levels tend to decrease” As men age, their eating habits, exercise habits and lifestyle catch up with them, and they start making less testosterone. Testosterone has a lot to do with mental health. In studies and practice, we see that low testosterone is associated with fatigue, brain fog, low mood, low muscle mass, and decreased libido.

Most men agreed on one fact when 40 arrived, the only way to deal with turning 40 is acceptance.

So how does one change your mindset about “Mid Life Crisis? How does one avoid getting this “Dad Bod? If you are between the ages of 35-40 years of age, you better start paying attention now.

The easiest way to avoid that problematic road towards “Mid-Life Crisis” is (drum roll please) Exercise. That is the correct exercise. So many of today’s adults believe that with age, comes that tendency to do less, and that slowing down, or being inactive is part of growing old. However I have news for you, much of the weakness that is so-called attributed to old age is actually due to a sedentary lifestyle, coupled with poor nutritional choices. Exercise has so many advantages, yet I don’t understand why adult males will avoid doing exercise, yet voluntarily choose to work crazy hours, increasing their stress levels and putting unnecessary strain on their already busy lives.

What if I told you, exercise could pretty much reverse the so-called signs of old age? What if I told you exercise could make turning 40 a welcomed milestone? Apart from the obvious and oh so very important. Exercise can protect you from Non-communicable diseases such as Stroke, Hypertension, Heart Attack, Adult Onset Diabetes, as well as a chronic illness like Osteoporosis, certain cancers, depression, and more importantly exercise can drastically reduce your stress levels. Training is one of the best methods you can use to live a healthy lifestyle.

Now with middle-aged men, we tend to eat more and move less. Now, this is a sure recipe for weight gain.
