Exercise 3 Ways to Maximize Your Time in the Gym

If you don’t have time to workout frequently, read these techniques to maximize your time spent in the gym per session!

3 Ways to Maximize Your Time in the Gym

We’re all so busy with work, school, kids, and feeding our families and ourselves, not to mention having time for some recreation. Plus it’s summer (at least for a few more months) so like I’d much rather be on the beach or on a boat.

So. Busy. I don’t get hours to spend at the gym! Do you?!

3 Ways to Maximize Your Time in the Gym

Let’s stop wasting time and start enjoying our lives! That is how we make health and fitness sustainable!

1. Have a Plan

If you go to the gym without a plan, you’ll probably waste a lot of time trying to figure out exactly what you’re going to do there. Plan ahead, write it down, hire someone to make a plan for you! If you have a plan you can just get straight to work, no time wasted.

2. Time Your Rests

Okay, now that you have a plan make sure you time your rests! It’s easy to sit and scroll through text messages, Instagram, and Facebook when you’re resting in between sets. But a 30 second rest (or 1 minute or 2 minutes depending on your goals) can turn into 3 minutes, then 5 minutes and before you know it, 7 whole minutes have passed and you are still resting!

Timing your rests also makes your workouts much more effective. If you’re spending too much time in between sets, your heart rate drops back down and your muscles have less time under tension. Make sure you time your rests! This will definitely help maximize your time.

3. Supersets/Circuits/Combining exercises

A superset is one exercise after the other with no rest in between each exercise. A circuit is a string of exercises (usually 4 or 5) with no rest in between each exercise. Try doing supersets in your workouts to maximize your time weight training. Or, if you’re really short on time, perform a circuit or combine exercises (ex: lunge to bicep curl). This will also help to intensify your workouts and even get your heart rate up. This can also be great for fat loss if you’re a hater of cardio!

Okay there you have it! Maximize time in the gym and try these techniques!
