Nutrition The Ke[y]to Fitness

Keto fitness

Have you ever wondered why there was a time when at least one in every group you belong to, someone’s in Keto Diet? Admittedly, the Ketogenic diet sounds intimating and impossible at first! I mean, how would you even enjoy eating JUST fats with a bit of carbs on the side? Just by the thought of it, it feels like you’re getting your heart enclosed by cholesterol. However, what most people don’t know about Keto is that proper fat consumption actually makes you more fit! Here are some tips to help you jump-start the journey:

Cut off carbs, or reduce, at least

You only have 25 grams of carb intake in a day, so make every bite worth it! The good thing about this is that aside from being fitter and healthier, Lower carb intake helps control blood sugar levels.

Work out on physical activities

This is basic. The more you move, the more you need to eat. The more you eat, the more nutrients (especially fats) your body will process. And since you’re indulging in fat-heavy food and drinks, you reach your objective faster.

Fewer carbs equal more fats

Here comes your favorite deep-fried food! But before you indulge, take note that not all fats are healthy. Some of the best options are olive oil, avocado, and flaxseed oil.

Get loco with coconut oil

Coconut oil helps you retain your state of ketosis. Special fat components called the medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) are easily absorbed by the body. These fats are then converted by the liver into protein. With a lack of intake of energy-inducing carbs, the proteins can definitely make up for it.

Monitor ketone levels

While everyone focuses on making sure they eat the right food, most ketonians miss out on this. Regularly checking the number of ketones in your body helps you keep track of your progress. By doing that, you get to figure out whether you need to adjust or not. Ways to test this are through blood, urine, or breath.

That’s it! I hope I got to enlighten your lingering questions about the Keto Diet. Trust me, I’ve been through it and it’s not as hard as you perceive!
