Why I’m Training for the Spartan Ultra: Pushing My Limits to Build the Ultimate Version of Myself

There comes a point where the gym isn’t enough. Where hitting PRs, counting macros, and chasing aesthetics starts to feel like clockwork. That’s where I’m at right now, and that’s why I decided to train for the Spartan Ultra.
For those who don’t know, the Spartan Ultra is a 50K (about 31 miles) obstacle course race with over 60+ obstacles designed to break you mentally and physically. This isn’t just a race. It’s war with yourself. And I’m here for it.

It’s Not About Winning. It’s About Mastery.

Firstly, i’m not doing this to beat anybody else. I’m doing it because I want to see what I’m really made of. I want to train my mind to keep going when my body’s screaming. I want to bleed for something. Suffer for something. And come out of it stronger.
So this challenge isn’t just about fitness, it’s about resilience. Discipline. Mindset. And being the kind of man that doesn’t fold when it gets hard.

How I’m Preparing

Right now, I’m in the middle of hybrid training—mixing weightlifting with endurance work. I’m still building strength, but now I’m adding long runs, trail hikes, mobility, and bodyweight work. This means:

-High-volume leg days for that mountain terrain
-Grip strength training for rope climbs and carries
-Hill sprints & distance runs
-Recovery, stretching, and dialing in my nutrition
-Mental training: cold showers, early mornings, uncomfortable reps

Thus every session is intentional. Every mile matters.

Fuelling the Mission

Moreover, eating clean isn’t optional anymore….it’s mandatory. So i’ve tightened up my macros, dialed in my protein, and started meal prepping like a machine. Fuel is performance. Period. No more guesswork.

What I Want You to Take From This

To clarify, you don’t have to do a Spartan Ultra. But you do need to pick something that scares you. Something that forces you to evolve. We get too comfortable with average, and we were never meant to be average.
So if you’ve been coasting, this is your sign to lock in. Therefore pick a challenge. Also, pick a date. Build the version of yourself that’s capable of conquering it. Finally let’s suffer with purpose.
Let’s build the elite version of ourselves.

Premier Performance
