LifestyleTrainers My Journey to Becoming a Personal Trainer

Journey

From Self-Doubt to Strength

If you told me a few years ago that I’d be coaching clients both online and face to face, I probably would’ve laughed, or panicked. My journey into the fitness industry hasn’t been smooth or picture perfect. It started with crippling anxiety, a loud inner critic, and an overwhelming sense of imposter syndrome.

I didn’t walk into the gym full of confidence. But I walked in questioning whether I even belonged there. I second guessed every cue, every plan, every interaction. But I kept going, not for perfection, but for purpose. And that purpose became crystal clear the more I worked with people who were struggling too.

People First, Always

What pushed me to stay wasn’t just a love for training, it was the people. The clients who came to me with complex challenges, mental health battles, self doubt, trauma, and emotional hurdles that went far beyond calories and reps. These weren’t just transformations of body, but of mindset and self belief. And I recognised their struggles, because I’d lived through my own.

My time in the armed forces taught me a lot about pressure, about resilience, about what it means to show up even when your head’s not in it. I know what it feels like to bury emotions, to run on empty, and to carry weight that no one else can see. That’s why empathy is the foundation of how I coach. I don’t just guide people through physical change, I walk alongside them through their emotional ones too.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is the importance of being open. Open to learning, open to feedback, open to criticism—even when it’s hard to hear. There’s a wealth of knowledge and experience all around us, and I’ve found that the more I listen, the better I become. That said, it’s just as important to stay grounded in your values. Growth doesn’t mean changing who you are, it means standing firm in your morals while constantly evolving your mindset, your methods, and your approach.

Stronger, Together

My journey is simple, to help people feel stronger, mentally, emotionally, and physically. Because I’ve been the one who felt weak. I’ve been the one who didn’t know where to start but I found my way and so can you.
