Exercise Why Will Power Alone Will Never Work. But Exercise Will

“I regret going to the gym, said absolutely no one.” – Anonymous

We are holistic beings…The more exercise you get, the better sleep you enjoy. The more exercise you get, the better food choices you pick. When you eat healthily you will tend to feel more relaxed and at peace.

We need to sweat every single day – to release toxins and because our body likes to create endorphins

  • Research shows that doing 15 minutes of physical activity in the morning helps with brain functioning, memory, focus, and clarity.
We are more likely to do a behavior we are rewarded for
  • When we miss the gym or do not work out the reward we get is to sleep in, watch TV, chill, etc (which is a reward!)
  • We only do what we are rewarded for, after you go to the gym you have to find ways to celebrate or reward yourself to retrain your brain. If you do not reward yourself your brain has no reason to do the activity.
Avoid all-or-nothing thinking
  • Most of the time we do not work out because of the excuse of time.
  • All-or-nothing thinking makes us believe because we cannot complete an entire workout we should not do anything at all. Even a 7-minute walk in the morning can drastically change your entire day!
Think environment – what does your body need to thrive?
  • Good pair of shoes/clothes – studies show when you look good, you feel good and are more motivated to move your body
  • Who can you invite to be a part of your gym/exercise lifestyle? – People in person or electronically  ( I use my fitness pal app and my friend in Vegas challenges me when he says “send me your monthly activity log.”)
  • Follow pages online that promote health. Listen to podcasts, or YouTube challenges that inspire you to live healthy
  • What is your motivation? I need music & I need other people around me, which is why I go to a gym. I get energized by these two things. But my commitment is what keeps me going when motivation dies out.
