Have you struggled to know where to start or where to go next with fitness?
There is a lot of complication around fitness and the “right” way to do things. There are so many things to try to keep track of and juggle. Many of these will take a lot of time from your day, and will become frustrating and hard to manage. If I could cut through that all and pick one thing to emphasize, it would be to start tracking workouts.
Tracking your workouts will bring you many benefits. To be concise, I narrowed it down to a couple of benefits, including:
There are set metrics to track progress
When you start to track your workouts, you will be able to start seeing exactly what you are doing, and how you felt doing them. You see the reps, sets, weight, and rest times you did in each workout. If you include notes or a rating of how individual exercises or the workout as a whole went, you can better understand your strengths, weaknesses, and this feedback will give you a visual of all the progress you make from week to week!
It gives you something to look back on and adjust easily
Since you have a record of what you have been doing, You now understand where some of your limitations are, what focuses you want to have and what isn’t working how you would prefer. Now you know how to adjust your exercises, you can fix what was difficult, and understand how to push yourself more.
It helps you stay accountable and stay on track with your goals!
Becoming disciplined and accountable for yourself is an incredibly empowering thing to learn. Fitness is a great tool to help you with that! As you write down fitness goals and your workout progress, you will find yourself achieving more and becoming more disciplined!
I would not worry about how technical your workouts are, how athletic or intense they are. Start by writing down what you do, and after a week, see how you can do better. As you learn about how you like to move, how well you move, and how much you can push your body, you will be able to slowly include other things into your workout plans.
