About Julie

My name is Julie Baroh and I’m the Personal Trainer and Nutritional Coach at Sunsprite. My love of fitness started over 20 years ago as a soccer player and century cyclist, then as a roller derby skater for Rat City Rollergirls in Seattle. In 2009 I incurred a spine injury that required cervical spine fusion in 2011, at which point I was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency (Addison's Disease). I was 41 years old.

I spent the majority of my 40s sidelined, sedentary and in very poor health. I gained over 40lbs, was in chronic pain and spent way too much time in the hospital. By 47, my doctor gave me the grave news that it would be a miracle if I lived to 50, and encouraged me to get active again. It took a few feeble tries to get back into the gym, but I did finally make the effort, along with dietary changes, and the weight finally came off. However, in 2020 I contracted severe covid that landed me in the hospital with pnuemonia and liver sepsis. I survived but lost much of my lean mass, on top of developing metabolic disorder. I had to start all over again to build back muscle, but little by little it started coming back. During my recovery, my trainer encouraged me to try out bodybuilding and strength sports, and it was the chance meeting of powerlifting legend and coach Bull Stewart that I entered the world of powerlifting and joined the Bull Stewart Power Team at age 51, becoming a 2x World Champion in my age and weight class, and holding several world and national records.

This passion for fitness led me to get my ISSA CPT Certification, and then go on to specialize in nutritional education and strength training, with special interest in women's health and wellbeing, especially over 40 and with hormone, metabolic and chronic issues.
