Hey Guys, thanks for checking out my page!
I come from a background in martial arts and hockey. Most of my youth was dedicated to martial arts where I gravitated towards the competitiveness of the practice, built self-confidence and it helped to focus some of my fiery nature. I competed throughout the years and worked my way through the ranks, earning a blackbelt in Tang-Soo-Do. Today I practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu where I am just a beginner, proudly wearing my white belt at McHugh Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. My eyes are set on hitting a Blue Belt rank this year with a mission of becoming a Black Belt by age 40.
I fell in love with the game of hockey in middle school and that love carried through the end of my college career. Hockey showed me what it felt like to be a part of a team. I learned what it meant to put a team first and that the logo on the front was much more important than the name on the back, thanks Miracle on Ice. I was fortunate enough during this time to meet some of the guys I still call my best friends and lead a handful of teams to championships. Some we fell short of and some we finished victorious; all of which we learned from and really pulled together as a true squad. I always had the mentality of no fear. Never afraid to put in the work, show grit and an unwavering willingness to do what it took for the team to succeed. I am forever grateful for the game, the community, the people along the way, friendships established and lessons learned.
Somewhere along the journey I suffered a back injury that built up over time and hit a tipping point after college. I was working a corporate job, still operating from habits I had picked up in childhood. I had no real thoughts or understanding of taking care of myself or my wellbeing and it sent me to a dark place. It really shook me and I started to wake up a bit, gaining more interest in holistic health, taking care of my mind, body and spirit. I’ve been on this path ever since the pain, suffering and depression sent me down a path of self-discovery and need for growth that I am forever grateful for. All of this history has landed me where we stand today. I’m still learning, still falling, but always getting up and carrying an ever-evolving wisdom from these struggles.
I first started working with others in a corporate fitness environment and I really enjoyed it. I felt like I could relate and make a big impact there. I ran a full program and large groups of bootcamp style classes. I brought an energy that seemed to carry throughout the room. Working with athletes was again a place I felt like I could relate. I had gone through what they were going through and could help them avoid some of the mistakes I had made.
So today, I combine passions and work with both working professionals and athletes, both of which I really enjoy. If you are living a life in pain, you feel stiff, could use some accountability to get more active or if you want to introduce healthy habits and build a solid foundation to create a more fulfilling pain free life, then we would be a good fit for one another and I can’t wait to meet with you!
