Certified Personal Trainer through National Strength & Conditioning Association for 14 years.
My area of specialty where I have quantitative results are working with people 45 years and old. I work for Baylor Scott & White Health and Wellness Center in Dallas, Texas.
What I do:
Functional Movement Approach to Post-Rehab & Fitness Integration The goal for Functional Movement Training is to have an individual improve his/her quality of life through the outlet of physical exercise and functional movement pattern development. ------------------------------------------------
Functional Movement Training Programming address the following:
1. Addresses soft tissue quality to reduce any tension and/or knots
2. Improves muscle lengthening
3. Improves mobility of the joints
4. Elevates body/core temperature and increases blood flow
5. Improves mobility and stability dynamic movement integration
6. Engagement of the nervous system to prepare the body for the demand of a workout.
7. Improves movement patterns such as the squat, hinge, gait, push, pull, rotation and core movements. --------------------------------------------------
What a client can expect during a training session:
Client’s initial workout: Take the client through the prep exercises before doing anything else. The goal is to address specific limitations and adaptations. On day one, this may be all that the client may accomplish as the client gets moving. The goal for each session should be to feel challenged but comfortable and ready for more.
Client’s warm-up: A set series of movement prep exercises based on the assessment from the initial workout. The warm-up will be included during each session at the start of every strength workout and metabolic workout.
Client’s active rest during workout: Movement prep exercise will be inserted throughout the strength workouts, instead of pure resting: Hip flexor Stretch, Hip Stability Exercise, Ankle Mobility, and Thoracic Spine Mobility, etc. These exercises are a priority and will be performed throughout the following sessions.
Development and activation of several key muscles groups supporting mobility joints such as the hip stabilizers and the scapular stabilizers will assist in improving functional movement patterns.
