Weeks 1-2: Foundation Building The first two weeks focus on building a solid foundation for strength and technique. You'll primarily work with moderate weights and focus on mastering proper form for the three main powerlifting lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift. Each training day will target a specific lift while incorporating accessory exercises to address weak points. Weeks 3-4: Hypertrophy Phase During this phase, the emphasis shifts towards building muscle mass and increasing overall strength. You'll incorporate higher volume training with moderate to heavy weights, using a combination of compound lifts and isolation exercises. The workouts will include variations of the main lifts to stimulate muscle growth and increase work capacity. Weeks 5-8: Strength Development In this phase, the focus shifts towards building maximal strength. The training program will incorporate lower rep ranges with heavier weights, utilizing progressive overload principles. You'll also incorporate advanced techniques such as accommodating resistance (bands or chains) and paused reps to further enhance strength gains. Each training day will target a specific lift, with accessory exercises tailored to support strength development. Weeks 9-10: Intensification Phase During this phase, the program ramps up intensity to prepare for peaking. You'll be working at high percentages of your one-repetition maximum (1RM) and incorporating techniques like cluster sets and wave loading. The training volume will decrease slightly, allowing for more focus on heavy lifts and refining technique. Weeks 11-12: Peaking and Deloading The final phase is dedicated to peaking for optimal performance. The training volume decreases significantly, and intensity remains high. You'll perform sets with very heavy weights, focusing on maximal effort and practicing competition-style lifts. Additionally, a deload week is included to allow for recovery and ensure peak performance during testing or competition.
