I wasn’t mad at traditional strength training, just disappointed.
About 15 years ago, I was a Paramedic, training to be a firefighter.
I had everything you’d expect from strength training:
Muscle mass, definition, and strength; at least that’s what I thought.
I could lift heavy things, yes. My strength, however, was not functional.
Moving weight in different planes of motion often caused pain, and in general, my joints hurt almost all the time.
What I was doing for training was not working.
Being the tenacious person I am, I didn’t want to give up my pursuits, but I knew there had to be a better way.
I started searching for methods of strength training that built a better foundation. I needed to be strong, flexible, and free from pain.
