About Duncan

I started my wellness journey when I first visited Australia in 2005. I have an autoimmune disease called Hashimotos and at the time I was taking medication to keep it under control.
I ran out of the pills whilst travelling. I had already started training and eating more nutritious foods and I found that I just didn’t need the pills to regulate my thyroid anymore.

In 2008 I decided whilst living in London to do my personal trainers course so I could use my experience in helping my own autoimmune issue with other people. I fell in love with the job and haven’t looked back since.

I spent two years as a strength and conditioning coach for Melbourne Rebels before opening my own businesses, The FUNctional Project, and the The Fifth Direction.

With qualifications from Chek Practitioner to Holistic Lifestyle coaching, Animal Flow, Kettlebell, Bulgarian Bag, TRX and Advanced Boxing, I enjoy all forms of training and preference the journey over the outcome.

We spend […]
