Education:
B.S. Exercise and Sport Science – University of Georgia
M.S. Health and Human Movement – Virginia Commonwealth University
Certification:
Certified Personal Trainer – National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
During my time at UGA, I gained hands-on experience by shadowing for hundreds of hours in physical therapy clinics. I worked in the UGA disabilities lab, providing one-on-one training for individuals from the Athens community who had cerebral palsy, strokes, intellectual disabilities, MS, TBI, and ataxia. As a mentor in UGA’s Destination Dawgs program, I helped support individuals with disabilities through multiple facets of life and was able to assist some of them in a CrossFit gym where I helped to develop a fitness class designed specifically for individuals with Down syndrome and autism.
After graduating, I moved to Richmond, VA where I became a personal trainer and worked with clients ranging from 13-91 years old. My clientele included individuals with goals of general fitness, weight loss, hypertrophy, post-surgical, and injury recovery. While training, I earned my master’s degree in Health and Human Movement while conducting research on fitness trackers.
Currently, I am working as an exercise specialist at a local Athens hospital while building my personal training business. My passion lies in helping people of all backgrounds and abilities improve themselves through evidence-based training methods.
